Conclusion

Introduction

Why is it important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically? What areas do you need to develop to achieve the goals you have for yourself?

I believe as a professional in the health and wellness profession you need to first develop yourself.  Knowing and understanding yourself meaning mind and body it will allow you to understand and assist your patients. How can one assist the needs of his patients, and expect people to trust the advice they give if they have neither experience nor the knowledge?  Relating oneself spiritually allows a person to believe and open their mind to what is greater without existence. Understanding and developing the mind and body spiritually I believe help to understand people and build a more positive relationship. These characteristic will help a person professionally relate and assistant patients more effectively. All people who are professionals have lots of working knowledge and experiences. This is what people are looking for a person with experience and the knowledge that they trust to help with the issue or issues they have.

I really can improve in all areas. I don’t feel one person knows everything because they are constantly developing everyday and I feel there is always room for improvement not matter what. My physically wellness has really develop over these last six months and it because there are goals I have in place for myself. Learning as much as I can to later help assist my future patients has really inspired me as well. Developing my spiritual wellness more will always be a goal. There is so much to learn and understand that I feel it takes a lifetime. Spiritual wellness has always been a part of my life and I know at times I have slack on my growth but I will continue to again the knowledge in order to increase my wellness. Psychological I will always be challenge because controlling emotions and various thoughts running through my mind can be difficult at times. I have learned the power of meditation and will continue to find ways to develop psychologically.

Assessment

How have you assessed your health in each domain? How do you score your wellness spiritually, physically, and psychologically?

I really assess my overall at least every six month. As a Soldier and group with people of all ages I really compare myself to younger and older adults I’m in contact with to put my health in perspective. I know physically I would say I’m 7.5 on a scale 1 to 10 because physical exercise has been a part of my daily routine for the last 13 years. I have increased my physical fitness by incorporating lots of weight training. I still need to work on diet a bit more but I now understanding and have put in place a diet and fitness plan. I would put my spiritual fitness at a 7 because I understand and believe in the power of prayer. I do practice faith on a regular I am aware there is more I need and can learn to enhance my spiritual wellness. My psychological wellbeing is at a 5.5. I really have improved but have a habit of letting emotion takes the best of me at time. Especially at work the day are very stressful at times. I have use meditation practice to get me through the work day but this is an area I can really improve on. I have put goals in place and love the person I am just trying to improve on a better me.

Goal Development

List at least one goal you have for yourself in each area, Physical, Psychological (mental health) and Spiritual.

My physical goal is to lose 10 pound and develop lean muscles. I have started an eight week program that allows one day off during the week. I wake up early for the gyms at 5 a.m daily because I found waiting until the work day is over I have many excuses why I can’t go. I do have to take a nap at times during lunch but I find going early in the morning has help with attaining my goal. My diet consists of lots of protein, fruits and vegetables. I do a body cleanse every six months to maintain a good health.

Spiritually I will continue to meditate especially after lunch and before I take a nap most days. This allows me to return to the office with a clearer mind. I also attend church and events to connect with people spiritually to enhance my development. I will continue to pray because I feel it has helped me get through trouble times. I have reach studies and know firsthand the effect from the power of prayer.

Psychological goal is to remain soundly focus of what at hand. I will always believe in myself and trust my instinct. There are many obstacles I face on a daily being deployed to Afghanistan but I remain positive and focus on controlling my thoughts. I always look for the positive in everything and with the power of prayer I know remaining focus won’t be an issue.

Practices for personal health

What strategies can you implement to foster growth in each of the following domains; Physical, Psychological, and Spiritual. Provide at least two examples of exercises or practices in each domain. Explain how you will implement each example.

My physical strategies will keep goals in place to achieve because this will keep me motivated. I am working out six days a week doing weight training and cardio to achieve my goals. I really want to have a child so maintain a healthy body mass index is keeping me focus. I don’t need a gym membership because the military provides the necessity. I really just focus on a family and lowering my blood pressure by daily exercise and taken medicines.

For my mental state I continue to meditate and focus on controlling the thoughts running through my mind. I know I can get emotionally being away from home but I always have someone to talk to if there’s a need.  I really try to think before I speak because I usually speak what comes to mind first instead of thinking. This I will practice daily and continue to master the skill to improve my attitude and self.

Spiritually I will dedicate more devotional reading on weekly bases. I know with more devotional reading and meditation I will develop more spiritually. I will continue to join spiritual well being group and volunteer more at church.  I know surrounding myself with people with the same goals will help me to develop more.

Commitment

How will you assess your progress or lack of progress in the next six months? What strategies can you use to assist in maintaining your long-term practices for health and wellness?

I plan to track my goal by an online tracker for my physical wellbeing because this is helping me to achieve my goals. I also have a partner that pushes and motivate me achieve my goals. I will focus on my spiritually goals by talking with my minister at church in search of better ideal and tactics. Psychologically I will read more on studies and continue to meditate to achieve my goals in the next six months.

My long term goal is to learn and put into practice as much as I am learning to be successful in the future. I will take notes and read on new studies and stay current with my field of study. I will pick the brains of teachers, advisors and mentor in related practices to gain knowledge and apply to my success.

  1. Great goals you set for yourself. I think the daily devotionals are a great way to keep your mind focused. It is easy to get side tracked, but once you start living the word, it becomes who you are, not just what you do. Physically, I would give you a 10! You look amazing, I know what I need to do to get those arms, but I am still working on the mental! I am enjoying the meditation and yoga for a restful part of my program. Soon I will get back to consistent weights and running, but my body needs a break from the pounding.
I wish you wellness and good health.
